Where NY, CT & MA meet
Modern blends available to us seem to come mostly from a few sources with very few traditional firms of the past still in existence. We have some in the US, few left in the U.K. and a few major EU players that are producing most of the major blends on the market today.

I remember reading about Semois a few years ago and feeling blown away by its existence. What other unusual sources around the world are currently in production? What other national brands outside of the famous ones were there?

French, Spanish, South/Central American, from the African continent? Asia? I’m intrigued.

Wolfway from Greece offer a range of traditionally produced blends

Ah yes Wolfway, they're a shining light in the pipe tobacco desert that's Greece, their stuff is very high quality but ultimately not for my tastes. From what I've tried their English (Pyramid), favoured (1920) and straight Burley (Epos Brown) are very good. A friend who likes Orientals - ok let's call them Greek in this case! - says their Greek mixes, and straight Basma, Izmir and Katerini are top notch.

I like there pyramid and Mythos blends ,I was not so keen on the EE2 blend,it was too Oriental/Greek forward for me.
I havent tried the 1920 as aros are not really my thing but when compared with the other available blends here Scandanavik,Mc Barens and borkam it is definitely at another level

Indeed, though to be fair, some of the Amphora and Davidoff blends we do get here aren't half bad at all! Then it's the issue of paying through the nose, 22 euros for Flake Medallions, 18.50 euros for Erinmore Flake - if that's your thing - is just too much.

I have never seen either Flake medallions or Erinmore in any shops here in Corfu, Karam.
Although i did find them on line in Athens and as i have to order Wolfway online i will try them, although I agree 22 Euros for flake medalions 50 gram v wolfway 150 grams 38.50 Euros

My preferred are Gawith Hoggarth blends but only when i have visitors coming from England can I get them
