I have a several aged tins of The Beast that I want to mellow out by adding some straight burley or Virginia.

What characteristics would each individually add to the blend?

Would one be better for smoothing it out than the other?

I would recommend trading it for a blend you actually like rather than taking an unopened tin and futzing with it.

But, if it’s part of your enjoyment, then chase it. Perhaps add more of C&D’s red Virginia cavendish which is already a component. I don’t think the bulk option brights or burley would improve it much without compromising its character. And I don’t really like what I get with mixing different brands.
