I wonder how much that one's interactions with the land plays into whether one sees a need for seasonal tobacco choices? I mean if someone lives in a condo with no yardwork, no garden, and works in an HVAC environment, besides having to wear a coat, the seasons probably don't have much impart on their lives.
Whereas some of us change whether we are mowing, raking leaves, pruning trees, shoveling snow, planting seeds, or spreading manure, hunting, fishing, biking, skiing, etc... so, maybe some are more in tune with the changing seasons, while some just have to put on a coat to go to work.

Probably true. I grew up in southern Michigan, so I have a love for distinct -- even extreme -- seasons. There were benefits to living in the Pacific Northwest, namely, fairly mild winters and warm (not hot), dry summers. But now back in the upper Midwest, I remember how much I love the four seasons.

Funny thing is, I've heard Shane Ireland talk in the SP videos about "breaking out the English blends" during winter, but "winter" is a very different thing down there in the Low Country.

I'm in the smoke what I want when I want crowd but the other day digging through my outdoor stash, I found a bag of Fusiliers Ration Special Reserve I hadn't had in a while. It was a great fall day smoke. It's an homage to Bengal Slices but I prefer it to the current version of Bengal Slices.

I’m not a seasonal smoker either, but you don’t need a reason to open another tin. Just stick it in a jar and add to your choices. Unless you’re saving a sealed tin for serious aging, who cares? At last count I have 74 open tins (in jars, of course). The variety is nice, and it’s always fun to pick through your open tins to see what catches your eye when you’re ready for a bowl

I love all of the tough guy replies. “Moods? Feelings? I only have one speed- total badass. I smoke WHAT I want, WHEN I want, and ain’t no damn season gonna tell me otherwise!” lol

Personally I treat it like beer/wine. Lighter stuff in the summer, darker stuff in the winter.
But also…
AINT NO GAT DANG SEASON GONNA TELL ME WHERE THE BEAR SHITS IN THE WOODS!!! ?

Yeah, I'm starting to come around to this idea, seeing as I have 16 different jars of tobacco (mostly from bulk, but 2 from the tin). As it is, a tin usually keeps things fresh for a couple months, even after opened. I have a tin of EMP that is nearly 3/4 gone that I opened back August and it has spent most of that time out in the garage where the temperature and humidity varies quite widely. It is still a good smoke (if anything, better than when I first opened it).

I had to resort to jarring up my Dreams of Kadath plug because it was just too strong (in terms of nicotine) for me and I thought maybe it would change somehow with time.

So, yeah, there's not much risk in opening a tin that I might not want to smoke completely in the next two months.
