Over the weekend, after reading much ado about Iwan Ries Three Star Blue, and ESPECIALLY C&D Black Frigate, I just HAD to order some to try! (from spc) They arrived Monday and now I've had the chance to smoke them both.
I just wanted to say I'm off-the-scale, pin-the-needle, outa-da-park THRILLED with the maximal enjoyment I've received so far from BOTH of them!! I mean seriously transcendently beatific visionally THRILLED! BOTH of them merited 2nds and 3rds on their maiden runs. Very unusual for me for new bakkies.
So I just wanted to thank all ye here which writ so exuberantly muchly and enthusiastically about your own pleasures and transcendent enjoyments of these two amazing treasures to pipesters everywhere!! Were it not for our hallowed forum, I never would have heard of them or maybe only passed over them in a light gloss, never to order, never to try!
Now... MUST ACQUIRE MORE!!! Thank you all!!

I enjoy both as well. I'm mostly a non-aromatic medium to full-strength guy, but Iwan Ries Three Star Blue makes room for another of several mild aros in the rotation, which actually set up the enjoyment of the stronger blends when they come around, for me. Thanks to the Black Frigate crew captained by chasingembers, and to jiminks for his (as always) astute review of Three Star Blue which prompted me to re-order a pouch after several years.

I'm happy you enjoyed Black Frigate. It truly is an enjoyable smoke. I've yet to try three star blue. Perhaps I'll give it a try soon.

The joy of discovering new tobaccos.. I love it!!! This week I fell in love with Scotty's Blend "University The Dean" and just had to buy more. Then I kept reading about Black Frigate so, of course, I had to order some. It arrives tomorrow. Until then I will keep my new friend, The Dean, handy.

Thanks to one and all for chiming in above! There's nothing like the joy of discovery so to speak... ESPECIALLY when it turns out to be new favorite blends!! Yesterday afternoon I had Black Frigate and then last evening, IR 3Star... and yet again, just LOVELY!!! I tried 1coyote's tob-prep ideas for the Black Frigate... excellent!! Then, last evening, I had one of my smallest pipes with the most modest of little bowlfuls of 3 Star and proceeded to nurse the bowl about an hour and a half with a very slow, sipping cadence... I was thrilled to discover I could name the blend constituents off as they fired in the bowl! Incredible experience! I got totally lost in it... which was good as last night was the first night of the upcoming seasons that I got chased off my beloved back porch and into the garage on account of rain, dark, and cold. A better thing could not have happened!!! Here's to all of you! Happy piping!!
