Thicker walls usually mean a cool smoke but not always, depends on the briar and the cureing method, I have thin wall pipes but you usually have to smoke them slow. Saying that every pipe is different, this new Roush is the smoothest smoking pipe I"ve ever had.

I don't have one, but I would love an '81 Peterson Irish Army or Killarny.

If I were going to go for a Dunhill, I think I'd just skip trying to find a 1946, right after the war when briar

was more rare than unicorns, and just go for a Dunhill panel pipe. The one on this thread is a beauty.

My Savenelli unfinished panel, my Jerry Perry Mountain Laurel hand carved panel, my Yello-Bole pot panel,

and my Kaywoodie Saxon pot panel aren't too bad in the meantime. What's my thing with panels? It just

descended on me. I think it was foggy's photo of his nine (count 'em) Dunhill panels sitting around that

got me.

Agreed, 1946 Dunhill would be almost impossible, I know I haven't seen one. I guess my birthday year pipe will have to be found elsewhere.

Yeah, I don't have a birthyear pipe either, but I would love to get a Dunhill 1958, smoked or unsmoked, doesn't matter. But, I haven't looked. Seeing that they are more expensive, I think I'll just put away some each month till next March and present myself with my own present. Eleven months ought to do it :)

I am seriously looking for a 1972 Dunhill redbark panel . No luck so far , since redbark was released in 1972 I figure that is the finish to get.
@bentmike has that 1970 panel even been smoked ?

I've looked but not found. As mentioned, 1946 vintage pipes are rare....just like those of us born that year!
