Once a man has lots and lots of pocketknives, and he’s got big hunting knives, sooner or later he’ll buy a small fixed blade knife usually marketed as a “bird and trout” knife. Essentially they are small hunting knives, sold to aspiring gentlemen bird hunters and fly fishermen.
My Case Bird and Trout has been gathering dust in a drawer now for thirty years and my Browning 210 for forty. I also have a Solingen made Weidmannsheil example.
But I just could not resist this $17 half size copy of a Blackjack Classic Hunter BJ067. This little guy is a half size version of my best hunting knife. The USA made ones are of mystery steel too, likely A2.
What is that extra loop on the sheath for?
I likely won’t use this for birds or trout but it should make a very good pork steak cutter at deer camp.
