This immediately brought to mind some of my favorite Steely Dan lyrics:
I detect the El Supremo

From the room at the top of the stairs
Show Biz Kids making movies of themselves

You know they don't give a fuck about anybody else

Man, I love me some Steely Dan! Pretzel Logic being my favorite!
California, tumbles into the sea... Steely Dan. :)
"The revolt of the Elites against the Commoners"
Good quote, Dave!
I still like, “Learn to swim, I’ll see you down in Arizona Bay” - Tool. If you listen to the entirety of the lyrics (vulgar) it’s very clear that Manard James Keenan is not very fond of California and for good reason based solely on his lyrics. He brings a lot of California’s follies to light.

“Recreational nicotine products” - rebranding to make it sound like a hard drug - “recreational heroin”
However “recreational marijuana” is cool though, it’s ok to have that, it’s medicine.
Makes me glad I do live in the middle of nowhere!

If I had that kind of money, and irrespective of the tobacco rules, I don't think I'd live in Beverly Hills. I'd have many choices, and that wouldn't be it.

Same. I'm not a Big-Apple-L.A.-high-flash-Type-A-Prime guy. Louisville, yeah, I'd live there again in half a heartbeat. I'm also QUITE content where I am right now. "I'm alright, Jack."

It's already illegal in some states to smoke in your vehicle if you have children as passengers at the time.
That's one I don't have a problem with. If the parents are too stupid, self-centered, oblivious, addled, infantile, addicted or any combination thereof to avoid forcing their kids to breathe smoke in an enclosed space, then I guess some form of enforcement is required.

Much as I love everything about pipe smoking, I don't bullshit myself that this is a healthy habit. So what business do I have forcing this on a kid?

Fly-over country, yes. Fabulous places to camp, lodge, visit, explore, and without the press of gawking crowds milking the scene for celebrity experiences. Some of the supper clubs in rural Wisconsin are time machines for the best of the fifties. You just have to plan carefully, fly to the nearest available airport so you don't have to drive through too much open country, or do the open country by land and see what you discover. The whole interior of the US is primo, for a little study in the guide books. Beverly Hills beverly schmills.
