Whats the best whisky that compliments your smoke?

Any kind, what is your favourite?
To start:

I've been enjoying Edradour Ballechin 10 Year Old i'm a peat lover, and i love humble small business' so they hit it perfectly home to me. I've been paring it with Peterson's Luxury Blend

I also am a peat addict but I usually just reach for the Laphroaig 10 to pair with whatever VA or VA/per I'm currently enjoying. Easy to locate around here and about as cheap as good peated scotch gets in my state.
If it's bourbon I'm reaching for my old standby has always been Wild Turkey 101 but I'm trying to branch out into bourbon and rye more after years of being a peated scotch fiend. Only problem is if the price gets anywhere near that of Laphroaig 10 for bourbon or rye the Laphroaig comes home with me everytime.

Skydog If you ever get a chance, Crown Royal Northern Harvest, one of my favourites, and we have plenty up here in good ole' Canada. Great example of a Rye! Plus its a modest $34.00 here for 750ml.
I love Laphroaig, I love their Quarter Cask. One of my favourites, its in constant stock in my house.
Chasingember i havent had the pleasure of trying the 18 year old. But i do enjoy their 14 y/o, so i presume id like the extra aging. Any tasting notes i should keep in mind?

I myself have never had the pleasure of Laphroaig. Been on my list for a while though.

Chasingembers Sounds excellent! how much does a bottle go for?
Normally around $100, but oddly enough, I've seen it listed as Costco for $35.

I love Laphroaig and Lagavulin, but when I drink them or anything similar, I can't taste anything else. They are totally overpowering. I much prefer some Glenmorangie, Glenkinchie or even humble Glenlivet to pair with a smoke. Cognac or rum is excellent too.

Laphroaig tastes chemically to me, in fact I thought I had a duff bottle but a pal who is a fan of the stuff came over and sampled it and said it always tasted like that 8O
I like my Cardhu and Jura malts, nice and smooth.

Jay.

Bourbon for me. Four Roses Single Barrel or Blanton's and I'm a happy camper.

Woodford Reserve or Blanton's are both smooth & sweet sipping bourbons that pair nicely with a smoke. I also love Laphroaig 10, but seem to enjoy it more in the winter in front of the fireplace when I am not able to smoke since it is such a smokey peat bomb.

I've never been much of a "Scotch Guy". I used to enjoy bourbon allot, now though ( for just over a year ), I've acquired a taste for Reposado and Anejo Tequila's. Blanco's ( clear ) are ok, but find the "mouth burn" does not meld well with pipe smoking. It "deadens" the taste buds as opposed to work in harmony with smoking.
