Title edited for cap. See Rule 9, please.

Question, I smoke English blends, English aromatics, and full areo's. Is it better to break a new pipe in with non areo's or will it matter? I do keep some pipes just for my English , and most for my Areo's. Or will that matter ? can you smoke whatever in any pipe ? Man I really love smoking a pipe.and trying different tobaccos. Thanks.

For an inaugural smoke, I've always grabbed whatever I wanted to smoke.

That said, I've reset a few troubled pipes after exorcising their ghost, and then I'm more deliberate. I bought an estate Comoy Christmas Pipe, and it was sour and disgusting. After a VERY thorough cleaning, I got it back in working order with Country Squire's Green Dragon. The Virginias worked very well and left the pipe neutral. I've also used MacB's Mixture.

It is my unscientific theory that the first tobacco smoked in a new pipe will to some degree forever permeate the bowl of that pipe. As such, I like to smoke a neutral flavored tobacco for the first few bowls. A good burley or Virginia works for me. Having said that, if you love English or aromatics, let her rip. It's your pipe so smoke what you enjoy.

I also follow this unscientific theory - go neutral and get the cake started. Then whatever.

For me, it’s always Virginias. This will tell me if it’s a good VA pipe. If so, then it remains a VA pipe. If not, then Latakia blends.

My rationale is that it’s harder to find a good VA pipe. So they all get tested that way.

I like to load up whatever tobacco I want to smoke in it, full up and smoke it. If it doesn't make it all the way to the bottom (e.g. wet dottle) then the next bowl will be the same tobacco, half full in the bowl. I like to try for at least one 'dry smoke' to the bottom to give the bottom of the bowl it's chance to feel an ember. mostly though, I am not too concerned about a break-in process. heck, i loose track of how many bowls in my meers at about .. 4..3..? puffy

Breaking in a pipe is not that hard. Put the kind of tobacco in it you intend to smoke in it. If you bought a pipe to smoke aros in then load it with aros. If you are not sure what you are going to smoke then try Virginias, then English's, then aros. Stop when you have a good smoke.

I keep aromatics, virginias, and english tobaccos to their own pipes. I would just start a new one out using whatever it's destined to be for.

The only pipes I think need breaking in are cobs because of the bottom of the bowl taste ehh for a while. And Peterson uses a weird coating that doesn't taste good to me for a few bowls. But all I do for those is not smoke anything spectacular in them until that taste is gone.
