Probably wouldn’t get away with it today, but love this one. So weird.

This one's pretty awesome, and the 1st intent for this tobacco was likely rolling cigarettes. Any time smoothness is emphasized, they were often implying it wouldn't irritate your throat, as in the Pall Mall ad below. And most cigarette smokers had changed a baby at one time or another, and knew the saying, "smooth as a baby's butt." I think shaving ads played with the same marketing idea back around the same time. Anyway, it's an AWESOME find!

Alright, take 2 with "contemporary". This one will be a surprise, because of the simplicity, and because of the fact it's a C&D can, and I'd agree there's an overall cheap look to their tins and paper on the outside, but the question wasn't the tin shape, or the tin style, or the paper it's printed on, just the art.

C&D Small Batch Eight State Burley. A simple drawing of a burley tobacco plant harkens back to my youth when we used to raise tobacco (for those who don't know, in the KY and TN areas, burley isn't "grown," it's raised) on our farm. A look at the blue drawn plant tells you the blend's emphasis. From May, 2021, and cellared.

I like the spark plug drawing, Capstan, and Peterson, among others. At the moment I am saving all the tins that I consume. I think they are precious, unique. And they will probably never appear again full of fresh tobacco. Who knows, in 30 years, I could sell them at a flea market on Mars. I had some lovely tins of Cuban cigars, which I threw away. I remember buying one of my favourites, H Upmann. I bought them fresh at the local tobacco shop. When the shop had a small humidor room. It's history now. I still have a couple of the same tins.IMG_8110.jpg
