Best smoke for a Mediterranean Cruise?

Hello all you smoking enthusiasts out there,
I have smoked a pipe now for many a year, although I do enjoy a cigar whilst cruising and as a consequence I have never taken any of my pipes away.
I wonder what one would suggest as a new smoke if taking ones pipe on a ship. Bearing in mind that I have always chosen a Churchill for ease whilst away on holiday?
I would welcome your feedback and comments about the best pipe tobacco you have cruised with?

Someone is bound to suggest Royal Yacht. When I go on cruises I just take what I normally smoke. If you'll be smoking outside think about a Flake or Plug. Those usually smoke slower and cooler, especially on deck. Also, bring a wind cap. No need to burn out a pipe.

I'd go for a deep bowl and less expensive pipes. A MM freehand cob might do well. I like papipeguy's idea about plug or flake and a wind cap. Also, a pouch or two of ordinary pouch tobacco, since it's burns evenly and well, like PA or CH. Some cruises are dressy and others decidedly aren't, but you won't be pipe smoking on the mess decks (dining room) anyway. I've always liked a cob pipe with a dress-up suit or tux, but that's just me.

I might try to bring a few favorites in different genres. I went on a cruise in the Med. Sea about 5 years ago, and really enjoyed it. I didn't smoke a pipe at that time, but I now I can think of how nice it would have been. It can get windy, though, so be careful.
In retrospect, I probably would have tried to bring maybe 3-4 blends. At least one light VA or VaPer. At least one heavy Latakia blend. At least one heavier nicotine/burley blend, and then one wildcard. I don't normally smoke a lot of aros, so my wildcard might have been a really decadent aromatic, just for the change of pace, and as a crowd pleaser.

If it's not windy it will still be on the boat. We did the Med a couple of years ago and had a great time. I did mostly cigars I picked up in Barcelona i took my pipe off ship in all the ports. Easier to stick in my pocket going in and out of places.

+1 for flakes/plugs & deep-bowl pipe with a wind-cap.

I smoke exclusively outside. When it is windy I prefer a MM General with its deep bowl & a wind-cap to smoke flakes/plugs/ropes. Also, no weeping & gnashing of teeth if it burns out or is lost overboard.

Depending on the ship, and its owner's rules, you may be limited to very (few) specific places in which to light up. I was on a Princess liner to Mexico and back from SF, and the smoking area was quite protected, at the stern of deck 11. The only other place was entirely inboard, enclosed, and full of cigar smoke. I have marked down that outfit due to that, but I doubt any big company will cater to pipe smokers. If anyone knows different, please "pipe up"!
