Recently I have been looking for more pleasant smelling blends as my lady started complaining about my OJK Blue Label. She kept saying it smells like a strong tobacco then started leaving the room when I was smoking. I finally asked her if it stinks and she said it does but she didn’t want to bother me by complaining.

So, I have been venturing out looking for blends that please her as well. She is a fan of Burley and Bright so thats a win but I am curious if anyone recommends any other blends.

I am not an aromatic smoker but have been trying to venture into that territory. Recently have been enjoying Old Fashioned by The Country Squire. First aro I have ever enjoyed so I am willing to try others but would prefer to find some non aros that smell more pleasant.

Thanks

My wife has a super sensitive sniffer, so I'm always mindful of what blend I choose when I'm in her presence. Since I'm exclusively an outdoor smoker, it's not a frequent occurrence, but when it does happen, I know what blends to favor, and which to avoid.

Generally, I'm in agreement with the consensus here on VAs. Very light, very inoffensive, and seeing as we have a horse, the hay smell is naturally in perfect alignment. Wifey has never complained about a VA room note, not once, and, somewhat oddly, not even an English one either. The only complaints I've gotten were of a couple excessively goopy aromatics, and some stronger VaPer blends. My own personal favorite non-aromatic tin and room note is Mac Baren Burley London Blend, with an honorable mention of Savinelli 140th Anniversary.

YMMV, as always.

You said “burley and bright”
Yeah Gawith and Hoggarth Burley and Bright is amazing. Taste and smells like dark chocolate. She said half and half smells like cheap tobacco when I burned through a pouch a while back lol. I can’t say I disagree with her. Thats one I tried to like but not to my liking at all.

Ill check out that TomBigbee. I have heard of it. I am interested in more of tcs aromatics cause this old fashioned is actually really great stuff.

You can always burn some of that Per Jensen burley and see what she thinks

She hasn’t complained about it yet. I have actually been meaning to hit you up to tell you I retract my statement about it being an “okay” blend. I just burned through a couple ounces of it and was suprised how much I like it.

I think I might have been burnt out on burley when I received it last year.

Thanks for the recommendations. Funny that she has complained about goopy aros as well. I thought that would go over well and tried a few to see how they were. She was disgusted by BRM. I’m kinda glad cause I couldn’t have smoked through a tin of that myself anyway. Makes for a nice potpourri on the corner of the kitchen counter though lol.

Happy to help. In the interest of full disclosure, the culpable aromatic blends were CAO Eileen's Dream, Captain Black Grape (understandable), and one of the ones from P&C's long defunct "Out of Office" series, some PG-saturated Black Cav nightmare. Should've actually been called Black Cav Nightmare; talk about truth in advertising! :ROFLMAO:

Mac Baren HH Acadian Perique, Sutliff Match Victorian, and WCC Rouxgaroux were the VaPers that did not go over well. Stokkebye Bullseye Flake got a thumbs-up, so who knows really? 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, when you said it was just an okay blend, I had to place you on my ignore list for a bit. Glad you came around. If memory serves me correctly, I believe you have plenty of it. I know I sure do….

Some wives can’t be pleased when it comes to tobacco ☹️

I only smoke outdoors and I am careful to close all doors and windows as my wife is intolerant of ALL pipe tobacco and even more so of cigars.
Look at it this way: you have it easy - no need to even try to please the wife!

Hunting Creek and Northwest Trek from the Country Squire are both decent. They are labeled as English aromatics, but they both have good taste and have a good room note to me.

I can only tell you this, someone's smeller may be different from yours or anyone else, that being said, about 3 years ago I was smoking some Half and Half from Pinkerton Tobacco that I had transferred to mason jars , my MIL walked out to speak to me, and of course she called my wife later, explaining to her that I must smoke the good stuff, because it smelled so good. YMMV.
