Which best-selling pipe tobaccos in the UK are not currently available in the United State?

A quick search doesn't find anything definitive in terms of what the best-selling pipe baccies are in the UK, but consensus seems to be that condor is likely up there. I imagine st bruno and special virginia are among them, as they're the only brands you'll find in supermarkets. After that I'd be guessing, Gawith Hoggarth and co seem popular among forum members (and they are by far my favourite blenders) but I'm not sure that reflects the wider British pipe-smoking population, and they seem to export everything to the US already

I imagine St Bruno and Condor are the two OTC blends most popular here but unavailable across the pond. Gold Block can perhaps be included; Three Nuns seems to get over in small amounts in its proper roll cut form.
St Bruno has been available in the US since MacBaren took over making it, or since 2016 or thereabouts. Not quite as good as the English made version, but better than no version.

The MacBaren version is nothing like the "original" in my limited and distant memories.
I used to get it sent to me back in 2002-2010 and absolutely loved it.
Saw it at Smoking Pipes last November and bought 5 packs.
This version tastes like a stout tobacco with very little topping. So little that I smoke it in my pipes dedicated to non Latakia and non aromatics. I like it a lot, but it's not the same.....at all.

It's really gone downhill in recent years. The MacBaren version was always a bit lacking in the topping, especially with the flakes. The Ogden's version had a much superior base blend under the toppings, richer, more interesting.

Just another example of Denmark being the place where British blends go to die.

Smoke King tobacconists sell a sampler pack of their best selling blends:

Gawith Hoggarth - American Cherry & Vanilla
Gawith Hoggarth - Coffee & Caramel
Peterson - Old Dublin
Peterson - Killarney
Samuel Gawith - B C Cavendish
Gawith Hoggarth -Spirit of Scotland
Thomas Radford- Sundays Fantasy
Century - R&M

No idea if this is representative of the UK market as a whole. I doubt it as supermarkets often sell St Bruno, Condor, Walnut Flake and Mellow Virginia and i'd guess that they shift quite a bit of product.

When it comes to UK blends that aren't available in the US it'd probably only be Revor Plug, Peterson Dark Flake, Orlik Vintage Aged Golden Sliced, Walnut Flake and the Gawith special editions like their Christmas and summertime blends. I think the US gets everything else, these days.

I don't understand why they don't sell Dunhill/Peterson Dark Flake over there. They sell the rest of the range. Does anyone know if Dunhill Ye Olde Signe and 221B Baker Street were available in the US when they were still in production?

Do you get Germain's in the US? I thought you did but I just had a quick look and couldn't see anything. Even if you don't get it you do get the Esoterica range and I believe some of them are very similar to the popular Germain's blends like Rich Dark Flake and Medium Flake.

If you were to swap the question around then we'd be here all fucking week. Mcclelland was never sold here and Pease, Cornell & Diehl, HU and many others aren't sold over this side of the pond. Our Rattray's selection isn't as big as yours, either.

The pipe tobacco selection in England has shrunk quite a bit in the 9 years i've been smoking. Most of them i'm not that bothered about but I do miss not being able to buy Warrior, Mick McQuaide and Peterson Signature Flake. We don't get a lot of new blends over here. It's not like the US where new stuff is released on a regular basis.

Still, it could be worse. Canada, Australia and New Zealand have it way worse than us. Count your blessings, I suppose.
