Tubs like Carter Hall and Prince Albert are getting harder to find. What are some of your favorite match blends that are as good or maybe even better than the old otc blends?

I've heard a lot of talk about Chatham Manor and Sutliff Estate. Do these satisfy long time codger blend enjoyers?

I like derby club aromatic. It’s a match to Kentucky club aromatic. (Never had the original) but I enjoy it occasionally.

SPC seems to have a ton of Prince Albert with limits of 5 cans a day, seems like it's out there, personally i'd be grabbing up the actual stuff before looking for a match.
This is sage advice. If the original is still in production and in your price range, pick some up.

Otherwise, Sutliff, Hearth & Home, and P&C have codger match blends (often in bulk). Note, the name may be slightly different, like Prince Andrew and Chatham Manor.

I haven't tried the match blends, so I can't comment on similarities.

Sutliff Ready Rubbed is fantastic. I never tried the original but I have tried the Lane version. I liked the Sutliff Ready Rubbed better and it’s one of if not my favorite codger blend, up there with Granger for sure.

Oh and Match Sugar Barrel is very good too

I'm a fan of lane and Sutliff ready rubbed. Lane is no longer being made unfortunately, as I preferred that one myself.

These are really outside my wheelhouse—and I’ve not tried the originals—but I do occasionally enjoy Man’s Best Friend (marketed as a match for Barking Dog) and Great Outdoors (Field & Stream), both from Sutliff.

I always get a chemical note in the second half of a bowl of Carter Hall. No other tobacco I’ve tried does that. To my palate Chatham Manor is more restrained on the topping and is pleasant through the whole bowl. YMMV.

If you like CH (or any other blend) then stock up on it.

Match Ready Rubbed is excellent. Don’t know how it compares to the original.
