Try a bic ez reach candle lighter. A smaller pocket sized of a gas kitchen lighter.

Thanks for all the replies.
I'll stick with the lighters I usually use.
While I'm really careful not to char the rims of my briars, for me the blackened rims of cobs is like a badge of honor.
The Bic EZ Reach candle lighter does look intriguing & could get double duty as my wife loves burning candles.
Now to choose a good burley to initiate the General...
