My local B&M got a bunch in, practically everything except for BBF and want to see if I like any. Typically enjoy a good Va/Bur or some VaPers, particularly ones with Dark Fired. I do like Latakia but only in very small amounts. Any suggestions you’d make?

Depends on the topping, I do like a good aromatic so long as it’s actually a good one. Put a little color in my meer lol
Most of the Esoterica blends have a topping, like apricot or anise so be aware of that. They are mostly semi aromatic blends.
For a Va/Bur try Stonehaven, which has a treacle topping.
For a Va/Per try Dunbar and/or Dorchester.
I also like Tillbury and Cardiff.
Check out Margate and And So To Bed for English.

If you cross paths with any Germain's Gold Leaf R/R or Brown Flake, they're both very pleasant blends for their own reasons. The Gold is subtly sweet, the Brown subtly earthy, and when they're available, I buy.
Forgot about Brighton, that's also a very fine blend, again, apricot topped, maybe some anise. After a break of a couple of years I opened a bag, don't know why, but it hit my mouth like a flamethrower on steroids, which has never happened before.
Peacehaven was another that did me like that also. Age didn't do it very well at all. It also had a slight rancid flavor.
Had a similar issue with a 17 yo 8 ounce tin of GL Pease Montgomery. The tin was solid. The tobacco was incendiary and wound up in the garbage. Shit happens.
J.F Germain's Rich Dark Flake and their Royal Jersey Perique fine ribbon cut blends are what I like ,and of course Stonehaven by J.L Peace Co
I really enjoy Esoterica's Pembroke. It's an English with a cognac topping. Very delightful.
Pembroke is nice and Margate is a favorite of mine. I bought some Plumcake for a nice change of pace. All their aromatics I’ve tried are really good traditional English aromatics. Very natural tasting. The only one I don’t care for is Tilbury. Stonehaven and Penzance are back on the market again. I prefer Margate to Penzance, although still a nice blend.
My belief is that Brighton, Peacehaven, and Germains Medium Flake are identical tobaccos with the same topping(s), but with different cuts.
I agree that Peacehaven is the Esoterica version of Germain Medium Flake, but Brighton is very different than those two.
Hmm. Interesting. I have all 3 and I find Brighton to smell and taste different (besides the cut)
