2. I guess it's not a true Lakeland? All I said was Lakelands seem to be very polarizing.
It is a true Lakeland to me. Made in the Lake District, principally Commonwealth raw leaf sourced outside the supply chains dominated by the majors, processed using machinery that would qualify it as an artisan product compared to what is used today by MacBarens and STG, etc., etc. Those attributes, to me, are the Essence of Lakeland, not the presence or absence of any particular casing or topping.

I hope the realization that everything GH makes doesn’t taste the same, not even close, is beginning to take hold, and polarization will be reduced.

Sampling a bowl right now as I type this.

I can see where the arguments are coming from for both sides. If you're a regular lakeland smoker, this may appear to be just a virginia to you. But if you're not that familiar with the lakelane taste, the 'essence' is definitely there.

Speaking strictly of my experience today, the lakeland smell was strong in the baggy (SP.com ziplock from the recent GH&Co drop) but after I rubbed it out and dried it to smoking levels the lakeland was a little more than a faint hint.

To my palette, the taste is the sweetness of virginias with this "thick sugary" kick. You may ask: how can you taste thick? And you're right but there's a density to the taste not the smoke texture I don't really know how to explain.

I think it's a nice blend to get into Lakelands, if you're just exploring these blends. Don't do what I did and start with a bowl of SG Lakeland Dark ?

It definitely has a unique taste! I don't get rose or geranium, but its definitely... something. I find it very pleasant! Kind of old timey?
To me, the rose geranium flavoring is very citrusy. Kind of like lemon pinesol! ?
My understanding is that it's the most prominent flavoring in St. Bruno, which I love, and Dark Flake Scented uses it in combination with licorice. Grasmere Flake is another GH&C blend that uses it as well, I believe, but I haven't tried that one yet.

I laughed at your description of trying to survive the first part of the bowl. That's why they're mostly an occasional smoke for me. I find the scents and flavorings real compelling, but also kind of obnoxious and aggressive.

I'll plug it again, because I think it's a useful and funny thread. The immortal @jaytex1969 's Lakeland Sauce Scale
