Hi guys, I am a new member here. I want to share a discovery I have made that has radically transformed my pipe smoking experience for the better.

My wife who shops at Aldi here in Spain picked up some sage tea. The first time I tried it with a pipe I was blown away. Every tobacco opened up for me. I started validating Jinlinks reviews with my own experience! Each tobacco jumped up 4 stars in my own personal rating system and I have been getting the blissful experiences and special moments that we all smoke a pipe for.
I only drink it for a couple of days and then I lay off of it for a couple of days before going back to it. Apparently it contains a molecule called thujone which is not good to consume a lot of, and also I get tired of it and the break keeps it fresh for me.
Since I don’t know any pipe smokers in my personal life, I am curious if others will have a similar experience, or if my tongue has a unique reaction to this amazing tea. No other beverage has come close, and I think I have tried them all. So I hope it works similarly for some of you out there! Looking forward to hearing from anyone who tries it.

I've never tried sage tea. I may have to see if I can find some locally and give it a try. I drink a lot of water or coffee with my pipes as well as bourbon or scotch during happy hour. The alcohol may detract from the tobacco, but hey, its happy hour. Thanks for bringing this to light, I probably wouldn't have thought to try sage tea.

The best is ice water. My favorite is ☕️. Pairing beverages with blends can definitely enhance your experience. If you take 3 fingers of a smoky, peaty Scotch ? with a good English I’d imagined be you’d be quite content for at least an hour or more. Or, you could pair a porter or dark cream beer like a Murphy’s or Guinness with your nutty burley…then you’d have chocolate covered ?s. In the warmer months, I like a refreshing Pitcher of fresh brewed Lipton with lots of sugar & ?…pairs extremely well with Virginias & VaPers.

Thus far my favorite pairing is Rye, Bourbon or Irish - neat or in a manhattan/brooklyn/old fashioned. I need to be careful tho as I have gotten bitten hard - the more I drink the more I tend to puff puff puff. After dinner once I had a snifter of BnB with my pipe and it was freaking amazing. For non-alcholic water, coffee and iced tea are my go to now.

With regard to the sage tea, it doesn’t seem to be that it is the taste of it that necessarily pairs well with the tobaccos, although it doesn’t pair badly, it seems to be that it cleans out your taste buds. I find that I get best results when I swish each sip around in my mouth.

I also saw when I googled it that sage is used in some mouthwashes and helps in healing mouth sores.

You might find that there are many teas (or other beverages) which enhance your smoking pleasure. Much like wine and foods.

This is very cool and I think its totally related to olfactory. Sage teas and many drinks you frequently give them a sniff because its enjoyable. You smell them. Same with tobacco, both before and while smoking. Olfactory adds another dimension. I mean that sage tea had to be smelt. The nose went into overdrive and the pipe was blissful.

Hmm, burleybreath indicated some like myself rather strayed from the post and perhaps the intention.

I enjoy alcohol with my smoke due to the time of day generally, but in the non-alcohol department I'm a fan of teas. I haven't had sage tea, although cooking with it makes me ponder how "rough" around the edges it may be to drink.

I grow Tulsi (also called Holy Basil) and the bulk of it is consumed as a tea. You can read about its benefits online readily enough if you wish. My opinion is that most all teas have some degree of "medicinal" properties about them, as do most plants - vegetables and fruits.

I have pleasantly found that teas provide a nice palate cleanse without the potential harsh aspect of alcohol on the tissue, and has made a delightful accompaniment to my pipe.

If you enjoy sage tea with your pipe I applaud you to continue to do so. Plants have tremendous health benefits.

I just may have to try some sage tea.
