Bertram, Washington D.C., Cased Meerschaum

I love the history of Bertram. I own several of their Briars. They all smoke fantastic and the shaping is great.

Having said that, I saw this Cased Meerschaum for sale and saw the condition and almost dislocated my thumb, elbow and shoulder hitting the Buy button.

It is a beautiful pipe. I hope you enjoy it for many years. It may be odd, however, but Meerschaum is the only pipe that i would not buy as a smoked estate. For some reason it gives me the willies. Have lots of estate briars, but no estate Meerschaum. Probably my loss, but I am honestly curious if anyone else feels the same way.

Being new into meers, take this for what it is. But I wouldn't want a meer that was precolored by someone else. I'd want to do the work myself.

Yes, I'd agree. Something special in colouring it yourself, I believe that's part of the "magic"

Ok, I opened the mail. When I stop shaking with excitement I’ll post some pictures. It’s an absolute piece of history. Amber stem with bone tenon.
