Bennington Tobacco Order

I was unfamiliar with this store until last night and placed an order for a few tins of Raven, Connoisseurs Choice, and Pirate’s Gold.

Not much available on Tobaccoreviews.com

Anyone enjoy or, is familiar with their blends/tobaccos?

Yep...used to visit the Boca Bennington's spot when I lived in South Florida a couple years back. The Boca store is closed now, but the same family owns/operates the Sarasota shop. I've tried a couple, mainly sample sizes. Not much to report on the other blends, however "Pirates Gold" is really good with some age on it...they had a special on it in 2008, so I bought a pound. A spun and sliced tobacco...resembling little coins.

Stopped in their beautiful shop a couple of months ago while in Sarasota. Just gorgeous. Picked up a tin of Knightsbridge and some accessories. I’m pretty sensitive to humectant in anything over light quantities - and this stuff, while flavorful, was very, very moist. It comes in a plastic bag inside the tin, so it’s shelved to allow it to dry out for a few months. My initial impression is that it may be repackaged Lane or Newminster or a mix of other quality blends - but I’m not ready to bet my paycheck on that. Living 30 mins away from Low Country Pipe & Tobacco, I’m not hurting for a great B&M, but it’s a pleasure to step into a classic pipe shop run by knowledgeable people and support them. I’ll be eager to hear your impressions of some of their other blends.

I haven't been to the store in a while. Do any of you guys know if they still sell their tinned house blends, No. 10 Bahia Apooke, No. 15 Balkan Mix (both excellent English-style mixtures) and King William, (named after the founder of the business) a rich Virginia / Perique blend?

I have some King William left, but that's it. It's an unopened tin from 2013.

Since the state of Florida jacked up their prices 85 % on the wholesale price of tobacco I have not bothered to look one time at their prices.
It was not their fault the state screwed them so badly.

I forgot I live about a 10 minute drive from their store and they were a great store.

According to their website Kevin they still sell #10, #15, King William, and many more. The blends look very interesting and I may order a few to try.

I was there a couple of years ago. Very nice store but clearly converted to being primarily a cigar shop due to the punitive FL taxes on pipe tobacco.
