Fungal Slices in bulk. I don't believe that such a thing has ever happened other than the bulk Dan and myself used to load up the sample jars with at shows when you could give away tobacco - remember those days? When P&C start doing it in bulk you know we are on the cusp of tobacco prohibition!

"Fusilier's Ration was created by Russ Ouellette as a tribute to one of his all-time favorite blends - Bengal Slices. Connoisseurs from all over have tried this "homage" blend, and have raved about the bright, smoky flavor, and the incense-like aroma. It burns cool, has lots of flavor and has a short, clean finish."

I tried them both and picked up a pound of Fusilier's Ration!

I'll try anything Russ makes. I didn't know Fusilier's Ration was an homage to Bengal Slices. I'll put it in the cart!

I've also heard it's very similar to Frog Morton

I find the whole Fusilier’s Ration/Bengal Slices thing bizarre, since Russ Ouellette is responsible for both of these blends. (For that reason, I won’t touch them. Too many disappointed experiences with his “blends.”)

A bit of trivia: The original Bengal Slices was the flake version of the original Balkan Sobranie.

They don't. The Bengal has never been offered in bulk, perhaps because it was originally packaged only in slices. Hence the name. The current Bengal isn't pressed and sliced like the older versions, and for that reasons and others it misses the mark a little IMHO. I've tried Lancer's Slices and Fusilier's Ration, and have found neither to be close to Bengal Slices in flavor and experience. That's my opinion. Others differ.

With all that being said, Lancer's Slices is a really great tobacco in its own right. It's worth tracking down if you can find it. It's just never filled the Bengal Slices gap for me

Russ formulated Fusilier's Ration well before I met him. It was intended to be a tribute to Bengal Slices, as Russ didn't have access to the pressing and slicing equipment needed to replicate the original. Russ told me that he'd love to be able to sell Fusilier's Ration under the Bengal name, so Simon and I renewed the lapsed trademark for Bengal Slices and licensed it to P&C. We made a whopping .50 cents a tin on the deal. I left the company a year or two later, and Simon and his partners sold the trademarks outright to P&C. So, there you have it. Fusilier's Ration is the same as the current Bengal Slices, just a different tin. Funny thing is, at one time, the new version of Bengal Slices outsold it's identical twin Fusilier's Ration 10:1.
