Yep, I'm still here after a year and most all of the time I don't stick with anything. I was talking to a friend of mine who reminded me of this recently.
Thing I haven't stuck with:
Playing Guitar

Metal Detecting

Selling on ebay

Making Pipes

Going to Church

Being in a "Motorcycle Club"

Having a Girlfriend

Photography

Making Wine

Building a Still

Gardening
I'm sure there's alot more. But, I stuck it out with you guys. So, Yep you a right Baron.

There's a funny story about a member of the US Congress who became angered when she heard that a large percentage of the Congress were "Philatelists" and vowed to prosecute them. I can't find reference to it anymore, though.
A Philatelist is a stamp collector.

I've been on the forum for a short period of time but for a while I've been wishing that the forum was some sort of tangible neighborhood so we could all hang out at a giant table together.
Good post, sir.

Other groups I've found particularly Beneficent;

Truckers-A truck driver in need can just about always count on another driver lending a hand.

Fisherman-Depending on where/how you're fishing, these guys can be some of the most open and helpful folks you'll ever meet.

Woodworkers, in general also seem to treat one another as a brother.

One thing all these groups have in common is a feeling of brotherhood and fraternity.

I suppose "Americans" used to hold the same sort of fraternity with one another before we all became so divided.

Masons really are that way, too. Even the family member of a Mason will often recognize someone from the fraternity, because their Dad or Grandpa was one, or their Mother or Grandma was Eastern Star. I expect to see it with the Masons, because of the special bond that we have.
When I see it on an Internet forum, though, I consider it a singular experience, because most of us have no knowledge of the other, except that we share an interest in a certain art. It leads me to believe that pipe smoking attracts some of the better qualities of the human race. Sure, there are disagreements and the occasional pill, but those things ultimately fall by the way in favor of better things.
I have thus far smoked a bowl with Chris, Mick and Lonestar and am proud to have met them!

I knew deep down from early childhood that a pipe smoker was something special. Seems just about every pipe smoker I've encountered, went down the street with a grin on his/her face.

Inflated language, and windy humbuggery may preen the feathers of these peacocks, but I remain pheligmatic, in the face of such palpable, obsequiosness.

I'm in accord with locopony: "Inflated language, and windy humbuggery may preen the feathers of these peacocks, but I remain pheligmatic, in the face of such palpable, obsequiosness." And even obsequiousness.
I abhor hyperbole.

Oh damn, I missed a "U". Typos are the unpardonable sin.

It makes the whole post void.

Time for flagellation. :(

Haters gonna hate.
Besides, I might use some funny words, but I'd say they are an accurate representation of my impression and views, so I stand by them. It's not humbug if it's true.

I never doubted your sincerity Baron, I was just playing around a bit with words. Language is one of my interests. More the power and limits of communication.

One day I will post my theory of solitude, communication, and the lack there of, as it relates to the human condition. Its more a philosophic observation than a scientific study though.
