My pipes arrived yesterday! I've tried the cob once, I have trouble keeping it lit but I still enjoyed myself (then again, you could pile me up some dry timber and hand me a can of lighter fluid and still come back to an unlit fire a few minutes later... I'm working on it, okay)!? I'll upload some pictures soon!

Didn't realize I needed to turn images into urls to share them here... anyway, here's the sav I still haven't touched, and I changed my profile picture to an image of me being goofy with my cob. I seem to be getting better at keeping the sucker lit! so there's that

Good on you! In the not too distant future, if you keep on with the pipe, you will develop preferences as to shapes, marques, blends etc. and begin to make choices based on your own tastes as opposed to the suggestions of others. Nothing like experience to build self-confidence.

Very nice pipe. My first pipe was a Savinelli and I love it. You will find it smokes very well and the Country Gentleman is also an excellent pipe. Many members have them here and we all love them as much as our briars. Welcome to the forum. You will find as you can see there is a lot of good people here.

Here
That's a nice looking Savinelli. I'm growing more partial to those slightly bent pipes.
I have a Stanwell in a similar shape to that. It is light, clenches well and burns flakes perfectly.

Can't go wrong with a Savinelli and that one is a definite looker. Rossi is an inexpensive Savinelli subsidiary, and carries many of the same shapes. Looks like your off to a good start, and that's a great avatar pic!

If it weren't for my preversion [sic, very] for Caminettos & swoopy Danishes, I could live quite happily with a collection of nothing but Savinelli products. -laugh-

Thank you for all your replies! I’m glad I have two great pipes to start on, the replies in the thread made it a lot easier to decide! I’m on my phone so I’m not going to go too deep into this post, but I’ll be lurking the forums! Thanks again everyone for helping me to narrow down on what I wanted to get, and for the kind words. You’re all a great lot! :D
