You heard it right! my room is haunted - Ghosts - of the third kind - Tobacco? - Smoky DFK and licorice/chocolatey Watch City
In all honesty anyone have a problem with 'cellar ghost' - the room you store tobacco in(sometimes even a small quantity) becomes ghosted with odors especially in the soft surfaces[sofas, beds, blankets]?
How do you get rid of it?
Do you think those carbon bags would help?
Boo!

If you're smelling tobacco where it's being stored, you've got some seals leaking.

Really? I always thought this was typical - a lot of my tins(sealed) smell of tobacco when putting my nose in the vicinity - I had a wardrobe where I kept the stuff and all my clothes in there smell like tobacco - I haven't worn any of those articles of clothing in years but they smell like dark fired

Have you worn any of those clothes while smoking in the past? I have paperbacks from 80s that still smell like stale tobacco.

I wear the shoes that sit on a rack - and wore a sweater the other day - but the sweater was in one of those drycleaning plastic coverings and didn't particularly smell - the only drawback of pipe smoking to me is the odors of the tobacco prior to lighting it - Cigars don't really reek - just that cedar

I guess I'll have to check the seals on everything
Not that it can't/didn't happen other ways but I'm thinking modern internet ordering of various tins combined with loose packing causes a lot of seals to leak even if only a tiny bit.

Anything I order that I won't get to soon goes into mylar bags. I don't have the slightest hint of tobacco smell where my tobacco is cellared in mylar. I keep my open/current stuff in a different location.

well it's not like it's the end of the world - but I can smell it -and it gets on my nerves
funny thing is my family sniffs around and never mentions it - so maybe its not as bad as I make it out to be
I'd love to have mylar but seemed like to much work for me so I never got into that

Those little rectangular and square tins are always slowly leaking. I've got four plastic bins stacked in my bedroom closet with snap on lids. That seems to do the trick. The round tins don't seem to leak as far as I can tell. When I open up a box of McClelland tins or other various cannister type tins, there's no scent from the contents. A lot of tins, and all of my Esoterica bags, I've bagged in Mylar which I then heat sealed.

Being a smoker, probably more sensitive to it. My leather hat smells like oriental smoke but others say it just smells like leather.?‍♂️

I was considering maybe putting them in the plastic bins as a double guard protective measure

The problem I had was the pipes leaving an odor in the room. The wife began to complain, so I got some corks and plugged up the bowls. Problem solved.
I'd say you should get the Considerate Husband of the Year award. Innovative thinking too!

Every time the ex-wifey would tell me to "put a cork in it", I'd just make a face and ignore her LOL! - Sherm Natman

I've found that some tins do smell -- makes me think they aren't sealed well and I put them in mylar.
