I have been waiting for an opportunity to try a bead line repair for the longest time and I finally got one. I am personally very happy with the results, especially for a first attempt.

The pipe is still not finished and there will be some finishing touches.

I'm not dumb. You took the "after photos" before dropping the pipe on the ground.

Nice try though.

Jk. Awesome job, I cant even tell.

Wow that poor pipe! Its like new now!

I'll always bother folks for the before pictures. Not necessarily because I want to see the difference, but I just like to see how the original owners used and abused them. THOSE are the pics I like to see haha.

How'd you do the repair? Briar dust in wood glue? Or just regular wood filler?

I'd be very curious to know your process here. Also for dealing with the dents, the rim, getting a uniform finish etc. Great results.

I used quite a few unconventional tools for this repair. I will take some photos write a more detailed explanation later. This repair was supposed to be temporary and just to make the pipe a bit more presentable and smokable until I have time to try something completely out of the ordinary, but now looking at it I might leave it like that.

‼️ TRIGGER WARNING ‼️
If you find customising pipes offensive, don’t read!

When I first got the pipe, it was obvious to me that it won’t be worth working on it(from a money standpoint), so decided to “adopt” it, as I often do and use it for educational purposes and customising.

Then I saw the stinger? and it gave the pipe a bit a steampunky/cyberpunky vibe.

I was thinking of trying to use something like JBWeld for the repairs and fillers and hope that it would polish up like metal.

The whole ideas was for the pipe to look as if it was made completely out of metal and it just had the wood texture as kind of a skin - just like those cringy tattoos that look like the skin is teared and there are some robot parts underneath.

If anyone has a guess if that would work or for another material that could potentially get me there, I will be very happy to hear your thoughts.

So here are all the tools used for the repair:
IMG_3954.jpegThe most important part I guess was cleaning out the lines with plastic black iFixit tool when the paste started to harden.
IMG_3955.jpeg
After around 20 minutes the paste gets into a stage where it is harder but still a bit crumbly- this is where the dentist tools come into play to slowly scrape the bulk of the material(slowly and layer by layer).
After full hardening I went in with the 1000 sandpaper to clean the last of the paste.
The hardest part in my opinion is to get the now completely hardened paste to be completely flush with the wood. Best tool for this is the pink nail file, but it has to be the one with wooden core, it just has the perfect flex for the job.
