I am new to this. First time entry. About forty years ago I bought a Barontini. I got it at a pipe and smoke shop in a mall in Connecticut while in college. Dark brown rough, i.e. sand blasted Full bent like an Oom Paul. I kept throughout all my years in the Marines and longer. Best pipe I ever, EVER owned. It had a bit longer mouth piece that I had made. One day on the motorcycle I opened my mouth. That was the end of that. I was never able to find it. I've had pipes close to that one, but not that one. Does anybody have any old Barontini's they would be willing to part with, compensated of course or know of a place that still carries this particular style -but a Barontini. Like I said I have others, but I miss that one pipe.

@Imgoldstein - Sorry to hear about your pipe. If it meant that much to you, honestly, you may have to buy DOZENS of wonderfully smoking and beautiful pipes before you find one to match your beloved Barontini. I can certainly think of worse fates.

Locating a specific shape/model/finish of a pipe could be a long shot. As a back-up, let me suggest a pipe that has some of the same virtues that might fill in until you hit the jackpot on finding your old pipe. Savinelli makes a series of non-filter large bowl pipes in a pleasing rustication, called the Hercules series that includes the Oom-Paul/Hungarian shape. I think you'd really like this one even if it isn't an exact match to the one you had.

If you have some photos, an option might be to have a similar one custom made. I know it won't be the same, anymore than getting a similar breed puppy can replace a favorite dog, but it might help.

A commission is a good idea, although I'd want to see examples of Oom-Pauls the carver had already done. It seems it would be a challenging shape to carve and drill, and I'm not sure I'd want the first one, or one of the first few, a carver did. A good one on commission could be pricey. One plus of factory pipes is that the process is repeated and usually perfected, so the engineering is established and usually pretty good, important with a full-bent pipe like this.
