Barling Garnet (1812)

While attending a retrospective art show of a friend we lost 5 years ago now in SC I hit up a few local B&M's.
I found a 5-year-old Orlik DSK, But this tin of Barling Garnet (1812) got my attention with the mention of Syrian Latakia and no sign of date except the AOL contact info.
It hasn't many but definitely less than favorable reviews on TR, seems like the Java leaf might have turned some smokers off.
Any y'all tried it, have any thoughts to add?

I've never tried it but I notice it was made by Planta and I like Planta's use of Java leaf in their (discontinued) Full English.
