I had heard that a batch of older stummels had been found at the Barling's works. I didn't know that it was in 1978 and that the pipes were stamped as such, but it would make perfect sense as they would want to capitalize on the find.
Sablebrush - have you any idea from what years the the stummels dated from i.e. pre 1955 or later?
