Ballerina Pipe

I saw a picture of the so-called "Ballerina Pipe" in the Kindle edition of "In Search of Pipe Dreams," thinking this was a true work of art, one of the most beautiful I've seen. (Given the state of modern art, I can't say that often.) If it wasn't a pipe, it would be in the New York Museum of Modern Art. I was thinking, given the poor resolution of a Kindle, would anyone familiar with this photo like to see a pen and ink drawing of it? No gimmicks, no graveyards, just a drawing of a beautiful pipe. Let me know one way or another.

There are three in existence, but it is certainly one, although it's unfortunate the photo was not in profile.

Bare in mind that I don't think I could even attempt the fine grain of this remarkable work, just shadows and basic shape that wouldn't misrepresent the pipe. I will try to do something in a couple of weeks.

It's challenging to come up with what would qualify as a new shape, but I think these ballerinas qualify. They have

enough in common, and yet provide room for individual interpretation. Inspiring work. It's a tribute to the old

standards on the shape charts that they are so hard to supplant.
