When I first started smoking a pipe B.S. was my preferred baccy. Since it went out of production most tobaccinists stock their own idea of B.S., usually selling it loose. I've yet to find any of these to be 'right'
I've found Robert Lewis' Tree Mixture to be very close, if you want to try B.S. get a tin of Tree, if you don't like it after trying a fill please feel free to send the rest to me lol.

welcome to the forum, roverboy!
I haven't had it (yet!), but McClelland just came out with a blend called Blue Mountain which is the newest replica of Balkan Sobranie. It was the peoples choice of I think 3 different tries from 3 different blenders at replicating a 21 year old tin a BS 759. There's a recent thread on here about it.

I liked the Blue Mountain. Black House is on my next TAD order. Never got to try BS, which is a shame, but I didn't try Balkan blends till '05. Folks, you haven't lived until you go English!

I have smoked Sobranie 759 and I'm sorry to say Black House is not it. I know that it won the Chicago contest but there is something missing that is not in my memory of 759. I actually spent most of last evening with Black House trying to find that missing "pow" I got from Sobranie. I'm curious to try Blue Mountain and Tree Mixture and see how they match up. Or maybe not. Maybe it's just better to let the dead stay dead. There's so many great tobaccos out today that will be classics on their own one day - several GL Pease blends come to mind. We sort of live in a new Golden Age of pipe tobaccos.

Well I have had both Black House and Blue Mountain and I consider then to be very close to each other with Blue Mountain coming out in front... with that being said, I have never had the original Balkan Sobranie to compare them to!

I haven't had either Black House or Sobranie, however, I popped the Blue Mountain tin recently and that stuff was awesome. Better room note than I anticipated as well as a very flavorful smoke.
