I do enjoy your historical posts with the wonderful pix.
I smoked my first bowl of the latest iteration of Balkan Sobranie last night - thank you, Pitchfork - and it was just swell. Maybe not as complex or intense as other blends I enjoy but still tasty as hell and very satisfying.
BTW, Jerry, I love those sweet faced Labs in your avatar: smart, gentle, kind, affectionate, protective as all get out and wonderful companions.

I remember the Balkan Sobranie tins from the early 1980s as they were screw cap which always fascinated me. Some one I know in London recently sent me a plastic bag containing 1/2 oz of Balkan Sobranie mixture from the mid 1980s. I smoked a bowl full in a clay and was immediately reminded of the taste and smell as well as the sticky deposits it leaves everywhere!
