Maybe it would be more surprising if you DIDN'T have any:

Maybe. I thank you for the compliment. Pipes and tobacco are my only thing. Some guys have collections of knives, clothes, cars, cigars, tools, trips abroad, all manner of things. Tobacco and pipes have taken the overwhelming majority of my disposable income and at times chunks of my non disposable income. I don't dress fancy, my cars are nice but not fancy, I don't have watches, coins, or shoes. I have some nice books, but nothing first edition or valuable.

When I joined I was impressionable and saw people like Peck, Harris, and quite a few others (including Mr. Woods who reacted to your post, lol) who would buy pounds at a time as well as artisan pipes on a whim. I couldn't hang with them, but i gave it my best shot.

And given the times, I've always planned on having my son inherit all the tobacco he could ever use, as well. I'm sure there will always be some tobacco out there, but quality pipe tobacco may be pretty much gone by the time I kick the bucket. My son is quite talented, but I don't see him growing tobacco, so I save for him as well as myself.

I admire that number, as well as your dedication. I'm actively working to build up a stockpile for myself against a future where availability, prices, regulation, and income will make it much more difficult, or even impossible. Since this is my only active hobby at the present, it's much easier to justify that spending.

Meantime, my first ounce of Bald Headed Teacher is on the way. I was hoping to try it on my birthday, but the weather guessers are calling for 16" of snow that day, so prospects are slim. I'm looking forward to trying it, whenever it does show up!
