Early on I learned a lesson about developing bad manners. if I dared to talked back at Mom it resulted in a slap in the face. Modern phychaiatrists would caution that this would result in a kill mom syndrome.

In some counties it is good manners to burp and scratch your buttocks after a good meal. I have not lived in those places. Maybe I will visit them one day.

She was not all overly strict but taught me that you must get the attn of some people to instill good manners. My Dad left it her job to teach me to act well around others. She also had a soft and caring manner.

I prefer bluntness rather than good manners. At least you know where you stand.
Sometimes good manners is just flattery, and I don't trust a flatterer. Deep down they just want to screw you over.

How unfortunate for you!

In my experience, good manners have little to do with being a square shooter or a four flusher. Vicious killers might have good outward manners, but that's very superficial. Really sloppy folks might be straightforward good guys. I could go on, but .....
