I never think about mail theft here in this small town, it's never happened to us here in Texas. Another story years back in Connecticut , though.Wow--I should be grateful and not take this blessing for granted. I'll add it to my list of positives about living in a semi-rural, provencial town (list, no lengthy commuting time, usually lots of famous stars to see in my backyard--Big Dipper, Orion's Belt, etc., stopping in the bank or stores and saying hello to friends by first name, . . .). Thanks for posting this and giving me something to think about.

The work force is a joke right now if you can even get people to come to work. Alot of people just don't give two Fukes right now knowing they have their employer by the balls. Quality of work has plummeted in the maintenance and service industry. Seems like half of the skilled trades employees are sitting at home collecting an extra $600 per week knowing when the checks stop their boss is so desperate for workers they will just hired back on. I have many friends who own companies in this exact situation. It's sad

I read somewhere that even trucking and transport industry have been somewhat affected by this phenomenon?

Ahh, but the FeMail Man round here has done similarly dumb things like lean the package against the post, but never on top, that's just plain ignorant.
I'd say complain to the post master, not that they'l listen, but might make you feel better.

Around here amazon is delivered by courier and not the Post Office. Is this different in the US?

Here in the US UPS AND FEDX, have an agreement the Non Government carriers carry to the closest PO and then USPS delivers to the final destination. The road is being resurfaced, in the picture it’s only the shoulder. A while back she drove her Jeep thru my front yard right up to my front steps, i was at the front door and took a picture of that. Postmaster told me she’s a problem child but he can’t fire her. I’m going higher up this time.

I have a huge cast iron mailbox with locks to prevent theft. All deliveries are left in there that are less than a foot in all diameters. I take in a lot of deliveries of jewelry supplies, so it is used for packages quite a bit.
My driveway crosses a creek with a bridge on it that looks like it isn't very secure, but it is. But, nevertheless, Amazon delivery drivers delivering larger boxes don't seem to want to cross it, so my larger packages tend to get left in the middle of the bridge. I mean, they could walk the 20 yards from the bridge to the house, but they never do.

FedEx seems to be content with just throwing their deliveries into the middle of my yard... if they even get the right house. I hate those suns-a-bitches with a passion. When ordering things, I never select them as the carrier. The only way I ever get involved with Fed Ex is if the vender absolutely insists without me knowing... because nothing they handle for me makes it to me in one piece. The last time those figpuckers delivered something to me, they threw the box on top of a yellow jackets nest under one of my peach trees. You don't even have to go near those trees to get to my door. They had to go out of their way to get it there. I hope Fed Ex goes out of business and all of their board members and CEO dies of a rare venereal disease associated with livestock. I haven't even expressed my disdain for them enough. But... for the sake of civility...

why cant he fire here.shes not doing her job properly.driving her jeep over your yard or leaving parcels like that .
Do the usps not have disciplinary procedures.Hes admitted she's a problem,so obviously had other issues with her

Where I live in the US, these days virtually all amazon orders I get are being delivered by amazon's own delivery service (Amazon vans).

We get Amazon packages both ways, delivered directly by them, or seemingly with smaller items, many get put in the mailbox by the USPS driver. I like UPS better than Fed Ex. The times I've compared, Fed Ex is more expensive.

Years ago, I had a friend who retired from teaching at a small women's college, and got a job as a driver with UPS. He was a farm boy, so he was familiar with hard physical work, but he was out of shape and had to crawl up the stairs to his townhouse after a day of hard charging deliveries. Then he worked on the loading dock. Then he got promoted to the front office, and very soon he'd graduated to being their international emissary traveling all over the world to set up delivery networks, and finally, last I saw him, he was a Vice President at UPS in the NYC area. If he ever moved back home, he must have quite a palace with the proceeds.

If you know for sure that mail carrier is assigned to your route every day you could always leave them a little surprise inside the mailbox.

My favorite is that every time I have a missing or damaged package to speak to the mail carrier about, their response is invariably “ Oh, I was in vacation. Must have been the temporary guy.” It’s always a great help to hear that.

I'd love to change the channel but unfortunately I'm dealing with this situation every day. Several of our properties have lost more than half of their staff because of how easy it is to sit at home and still be paid. Many of the vendors we use cannot do work anymore because they don't have employees and cannot find people who are willing to work. Just calling it like I see it because everyday what I do is affected by it

Would you be willing to work in the conditions that caused you to contract Covid and at the wages paid? What if you had been hospitalized or died? What is minimum wage compared to medical dept and death?

Don’t just decide you know these folks are lazy and unwilling to work. That’s presumption and arrogance.

As soon as I was cleared to go to work I showed up to work and here I am doing the same thing I've been doing. Just telling it like it is. Before they started giving away all this free money all 13 of our properties were 90% staffed even during covid. Once people found a loophole and a way to sit at home and collect more money they jumped right on it in. Just about every single one of our properties is understaffed and struggling. If we're scared to death of a virus that has a 99% survival rate than what the hell have we been doing working the whole time pneumonia and the flu have been out which are four times more deadly. I've had both the flu and pneumonia and they were way worse than anything I experienced with covid. We can agree to disagree it's all good. But I know plenty of people who are taking advantage of the situation and it has absolutely nothing to do with their health or safety. I know plenty of business owners who had 15 employees that are now down to three who flat out told their employer if I can stay at home and make more money I'm going to do that and when the check stop coming I'll be back to work. If I was just pulling all this out of my ass I wouldn't waste my time commenting on it. I actually work and deal with these situations and am directly affected by them.
