I’ve mentioned in a couple places on here I recently opened and had a couple bowls from a tin of C&D Joie De Vivre. Englishes are my preferred genre, and while the blend scores admirably on tobaccoreviews.com, I find it smells and tastes radically different from any of the other two dozen or so English blends I have tried, and in a substantially off-putting way. While the plug looks perfectly fine, the tin note is remarkably similar to chicken litter, and that remains dominant in the taste when smoked. I am not speaking in hyperbole here. Having grown up on a farm, that particular note is unmistakable. I have tried many other blends that have a reputation for being polarizing (this isn’t one, as far as I know); none of which, to my taste, have been anywhere near this offensive. My question is, could I have simply gotten a bad batch? How common is that?
**I mean no offense to any C&D affiliated folks that may happen across this post. I love Star of the East Flake and Rajah’s Court, which is in part why I am wondering what is up with my unexpected experience with Joie de Vivre here.
