Surgery well today.

Miserable pain in my hip and ankle is gone Yeaaah!!!!!!

Dr said the disk condition had worsened since the MRI and that was why the pain had amped up so much.

Pain meds are doing their job.

Thanks again for the well wishes and prayers.

What really sucks about back pain is no one can see it. Not like you got a cast on. So some people wonder if you are faking. Having a messed up, upper back I know how it is and how much it sucks ass....

@lawmax3 ... don’t search for tobacco online while taking pain killers! You might end up with a killer cellar and a large credit card bill. 8O
Glad the surgery went well.

3rdguy, I'm doing absolutely great!!!

The mind wrenching pain that I had before surgery is no more.

Granted, I haven't been doing much to fully load the back yet.

I get the staples out on Thursday and will have a follow up.

Hopefully all is well.

npod, I have done a bit of searching for tobaccos but no buying as of yet. Haha.

Thanks for asking, Lawson

That is fantastic. The wife had back surgery a few years ago and it worked out fantastic. She is signing up for classes at the YMCA to the point where I am being pressured!
I believe her situation was a more of a spur thing where once they went in and did some work it was great after....

Wish i could have caught this sooner. For anyone else with this issue, i firmly believe in 'decompression therapy' using an Inversion Table. It takes a minute to get used to the unfamiliar sensations of hanging upside down but it pays off. I have been using one since the eighties and so far, no surgery!

1sirsmokesalot, does inversion therapy help you beyond the few minutes of hanging? I tried it for a bit when I first got sciatica, but the doctor told me (and I noticed it also) that it didn't really help beyond the initial hanging.
What helped me immensely is yoga and core exercises with a trainer. I still get twinges of sciatica, but nothing like it used to be. About 20 minutes of a series of yoga stretches seems to keep most of the pain at bay.
Glad to hear everything went well, Lawmax.

The evidence based literature on inversion is inconclusive. But it is one of those topics full of spirited opinion. Personally, I have a table at home and used it more after surgery than I do now. I do use it if I’ve been on my feet all day or after long plane rides and travel.
Like Cosmic, yoga and Pilates was the ticket for me. Changed my life really. The evidence definitely supports core strengthening as a fundamental therapy for bulging disks and sciatic pain. Of Course a bit of weight loss is also helpful. Honesty, one of he problems with pipe smoking is that I often defer my exercise to smoke a bowl and “relax”. I need to get back to regular workouts.
