So, I've just accepted a job in Cincinnati, OH, so now begins the crazy, logistics intensive process of preparing a house to sell and moving my entire life there from Tucson, AZ. We should be there around September 15th, and I start at the end of September.

Any advice on good B and M's in the area? It sounds like Straus is a must-visit. Any others people can recommend?

It’s been many years since I frequented Cinci, but definitely Strauss - it’s an institution. Kinda the Iwan Ries of their hometown, but no elevator ;) Hopefully they’ve kept a significant pipe presence. Great city overall. Best wishes and congrats on the new gig.

Welcome from a fellow Cincy-area dweller! Crappy answer, but Straus is the best local pipe place I've found.

If you like cigars, there's a better selection and I can toss in here. Pre-Covid some cigar-main joints had a somewhat OK pipe selection....Jungle Jim's (which is a cool stop for food/liquor/cigars), Bells, etc....but many let that die on the vine with Covid-reduced walk-ins. Down in Kentucky...towards the Distillery clusters....I've had better luck with "surprise decent finds".....but I havent checked that scene in over a year.

To the best of my knowledge, Strauss is your best bet for pipe tobacco. I’m just a little north of Cincinnati, but I frequently go to the Strauss location in Florence.

There was/is a cigar B&M in Mason called the Wright Puff. I frequented that a bunch before covid. However, I stopped in last week and they had no inventory but were still allowing people to smoke inside. I believe they relayed they are having a change up in ownership and will be back to operating as normal soon. Fingers crossed!

Strauss is okay but isn't close to Iwan Ries or even The Briary in Birmingham. If you're more looking for somewhere to smoke, I'd go to Blaze Lounge in Newport ( across the river from Cincinnati) or one of the barb casinos.

Thanks for the response, fellas, and thanks for the congrats. I'll definitely be hitting up Straus when I get into town. We're looking at buying on the NE side within 15 or so minutes of downtown, so that will probably be my most convenient location. Mostly looking for someone to smoke occasionally and pick up a thing or two. Living in Tucson, we really don't have any good B and M's, so Straus will likely be a huge improvement. We'll be brand new to the area, so lots of exploring is in order, including a trip or two to Lexington and the Bourbon Trail, so I'll check out Schwab's as well.
