Azerbaijan Mud Volcanoes

Was just reading about these. While not the same as a traditional volcano, they can spew out huge fireballs.



Forum member and moderator @jvnshr lives in Azerbaijan and they have the most dense collection of mud volcanoes in the world. I now understand the Flame Towers there!? Javan is my new hero.

Interesting geology there. It is sort of like Old Faithful if it happened just on top of a sludgy swamp. The video is good! Apparently these exist in North America too.

Once in Roto Rua (sp?) and a few times near Santa Fe, NM. No mud baths near where I am, afaik.
