Avoiding The Charring Light

I feel like I read somewhere that the charring light was invented by match companies in the 1800s to sell more matches. No idea if true or not, but it definitely wouldn't surprise me.

I always do a charring light out of habit, one which it doesn't seem necessary to break.

people always say something like that. It might be true. I almost never do a char light with matches since they usually get it right the first time.

Light, smoke as slowly as possible, and re-light as necessary.

There is nothing better than reluctantly getting to the end of my pipe and wanting the experience to continue. This happens more often than not.
