don’t always agree with what he likes or dislikes
I don't think that when @JimInks gives a 4 star rating to a tobacco that he necessarily "likes" it, but rather he is stating that it is an exemplar in its class; that the tobacco meets all the requirements to lead that class of tobacco. I could be wrong, but from what I recall of his writings on the subject, that is his intent.

Wasn't talking strictly in terms of ratings.

You are absolutely correct, man. My personal preferences have nothing to do with my ratings. If they did, my ratings on a great many of my reviews would be different.

It helps to know what you like, besides what you dislike?

Now KBV Sakura is amazing, unfortunately out at the moment.

As Chasing Embers pointed out, Vanilla is a topping, and if you find a lot of various toppings aren’t your thing, stick to Straight Blends, or straighter in the sense they might be only cased, for some flavoring.

To give you an idea of what I am trying to explain, if you haven’t done so before, look through the blends on SPC and in the descriptions on the right for the blends look at the ‘Family’ it is listed under. A topping like Vanilla should be under the Family of an Aromatic.

Telegraph Hill listed in the link below is a Virginia. Straight blends like this might be cased, not topped.

Can get a good idea of what folks like popping into WAYS!
True. But, I know quite a few of the regulars are simply experimenting with some blends and working their way through others. But you can spot trends. My personal favorites are American styled English blends - that is to say there is a bit of black Cavendish in the blend that does impart an aromatic room note that would otherwise be missing.

And often comment whether they like a blend, but do keep telling me where I'm going wrong with my own thoughts.
