Nickname is the same when I joined Oahu Jeepers forums when I lived and wheeled out in Hawaii. I was the new guy so hence the newbie. Figure I'll use it on any forum I join.
Avatar is me kicked back with a Sloth pipe.

My nickname is a bit of a long story (which I'm sure I've told before). Many years ago, my friends started calling me "rbp", which are my initials and my username on most systems (whenever I can snatch it). When I met my now wife, her then 11-year-old niece questioned why my nickname would be longer than my name (I'm Brazilian, and in Portuguese "rbp" is pronounced with four syllables, whereas my name, "Rodrigo", has 3). So she started calling me just "r" ("Érre", in Portuguese - 2 syllables). Everyone loved it (myself included), and my friends quickly took to calling me "r".
Many years later (in fact, five and a half years ago), my wife and I moved to the Netherlands. There, to try and get people to be able to pronounce my nickname, I started spelling it phonetically in Dutch, "echie". It added to the coolness factor that "echie" is a (somewhat childish) way of saying "Really!".
All of which of course gets lost on anglophone audiences, since I can't think of a phonetic way to explain the pronunciation of "Érre", "echie" in English :)
My avatar is just me, clowning around in Munich :^)

I'll get my avatar up one of the days but my screen name comes from what I do. I'm a fire investigator. I dig through the ashes to figure out what caused the fire. All I see in my job is death and destruction, that's why I smoke estate pipes. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Still looks like some sort of freakish video clown serial killer to me. Would be good for a Halloween horror movie. I bet you are about 30 years old.

Just shy of 23.
I like to think that my mask scares off the neighbor children, keeps them from coming in my yard and getting hurt/screwing with my stuff. One of them stole some things a few months back, that was part of the drive behind painting the helmet. If you're scared, they're scared, and all is well.

The avatar is just me and my friend. The name is one I took to push me to do that more. At the time I decided to join the forum, I was carving pipes, so "carver". Sounded quite cool. Still does. Now just needs to carve more, but my new location doesn't really allow me to do so.

My forum name, philobeddoe was supposed to be Philo Beddoe, but I messed up when I was putting my info into the forum database. Well, I didn't know how to fix it so I just ran with it! Philo Beddoe is a character from two, rather cheesy 1970's Clint Eastwood movies that I enjoy. Also, Philosophy was my major while at University, so there is that little connection as well.

As a child of the late 40s and early 50s, I grew up without a TV, and only had AM radio to listen to. My parents bought me 78 rpm children's records to listen to. Much like todays kids watching videos of Disney movies over and over, I listened to these records over and over. Some of my favorites were "Little Orley" stories as told by Uncle Lumpy (Hugh Brannum) who was later Mr. Green Jeans on Captain Kangaroo on TV. Somehow, I got the knick name of Orley when I was a teenager, and it stuck till today. Here on the forums I started out as agnosticpipe but changed it a couple of years ago because Orley seemed like more fun, and I am if nothing else, fun... :nana:
One of my original records copyright 1950.

Hobbits are small and they smoke pipes; I'm 5' tall and smoke pipes...seems natural "lifesizehobbit." My avatar is that of cartoon character Commander McBragg, who if you told him you were going to the moon, not only would he have been there, but he could tell you where to park.

My avatar is the last photo taken of my son before his passing. My old lady picked out my screen name. She said it was the complete opposite of me. LOL! Photo below is the real me, except all of the hair is longer now an a whole lot grayer.

She's right, you are absolutely the complete opposite of a Scrooge! The world needs more folks like you. I'm very sorry to hear about your son's passing. I've always assumed the avatar was you when you posted.
