320 is where it's at for me when it comes to authors. I've never liked clenching, so that's not an issue for me.

I have one short pipe and two longer ones (all of which I made to get me started), and I find myself holding the longer ones primarily.
i do like the comfort and ease of being able to use two hands while smoking the shorter one though ..

The only author I have, a Dr. Grabow from the late 50s. Shape 81. It's quite remarkable the difference in quality of the old grabows compared to the new ones.
