Our featured guest on tonight's Pipes Magazine Radio Show is Austin Bourdo of Pathfinder Pipes. He is an Army Veteran having the highly specialized role of Pathfinder. (Find out what that is on the show. It’s super badass cool.) Austin is a father and husband living in his native Wisconsin. He does social work full time and makes pipes part time. It all started when he found his grandfather’s pipes, started smoking, and he already had a lathe for bowl turning, so making pipes was a natural progression. At the top of the show in the Pipe Parts segment, we will continue the virtual tour of Brian’s pipe collection with two estate Comoy’s pipes that have a great background story.

The show airs every Tuesday at 8:00pm eastern US time, and can be found at PipesMagazine.com and all podcast apps.

It was fun getting to learn the history of the two Comoys in your collection. I’ve enjoyed the walk through it so far.

I found Austin on Instagram early last year. He had some great examples of his work on his page. It’s a good combo of classic shapes and some fun free-hand’ish shapes. Sometimes using classic black stems, but also changing it up with colorful stems. My favorite was a dark stained sandblasted Lovat with a smooth natural rim and a dark turquoise stem. I’m hopinge he can make it out to the Vegas show so I can meet him in person and buy a pipe from him directly.

Austin does great work. I've heard some of his interviews on other pipe podcasts and it's clear that he loves what he does, both with pipes and social work. It's wonderful to know that there are people like him doing that work and caring for people.

Also, Brian those pipes are ugly. Please mail them to me for disposal.
