I don't think it was to pull the product off the shelf, it was for submitting the requests, reports, and applications. But trying to muddle through the documentation is a PITA...
I posted several months ago the documentation that made the so called August 8 deadline irrelevant. Simply put, a Court intervened. The deadline for submitting PTMA’s was September 9, 2020. The FDA was to have reviewed these applications by September 9, 2021.

But not everything requires a PTMA. Not everything is “subject to the Agency’s enforcement discretion.” Presence or absence on any particular list doesn’t tell the whole story. Not by a long shot.

This. Also, the FDA website indicates that it has withdrawn its PTMA Application rules for further consideration, so there's no basis for it to consider applications at this time.

I genuinely thought it was Sable's birthday after that nothing, nothing, nothing etc.. :ROFLMAO:

Of course if they actually did act on the bill, or whatever, they would have to find something else to do, to justify their jobs.
They'll most likely drag this out and blame Covid or something so they appear to be busy later..

@cshubhra , which of those two outcomes will scare pipe smokers the most ? ?‍♂️?

I was just joking, but a decision is less scary than being on a limbo ?

No, the extension was to 8/8/21, with a further extension to 8/8/22 for blends in the process of going through the FDA's certification.
I just realized the execution date had come and gone with not even a whimper.
I've said from the start this wasn't going to amount to anything. Even if it was fully implemented all that would happen is a slight increase in production costs. An increase that only makes a difference if a blend is already a poor performer.
The thing is we've all looked at it like pipe smokers who know how many different blends there are. Where as an agency like the FDA is going to look at tobacco as a single thing and casings and toppings as another. And a little bit of cherry or a lot of cherry or whatever are to them the precise same thing.
But everyone is a little paranoid and wants to think the world is out to get them.
