Hey Jason,

It's ok, but I haven't thought about comparing the two.

As Dunhill 965 has yet to return to the States, I have to plead to the old adage...

"Distance makes the heart grow fonder."

965 is one of my all time favorites, so based on that I have to say that while the Sutliff Blend No. 5 is similar and good... it seems clumsy by comparison with memory.

The individual flavors seem chunkier than the smooth compilation of my recalled 965.
Did that make any sense.... I hope so.

Yeah, I think I catch your drift, or in this case, smoke. Kinda like the different flavors are there, but they aren't all melded together...

pstlpkr- I just saw your "Fistful of Dollars" pipe posting. That is MASSIVE! It must take forever to smoke a bowlful. I mean that's part of a branch you've got there. How does an applewood pipe smoke differently than a briar? I imagine that the same old rules for breaking in, packing, cleaning don't apply. Anyway, awesome pipe.

4:25 am here in Ford Lauderdale. Smoking Capt. Earle's Ten Russians in my recently refurbished Yello Bole Large Billiard. Perfect smoking conditions outside as well. The air is so still the smoke is just gently wafting around my face. The water on the intecoastal waterway is dead still. Beautiful.
