Have you tried a cob? They seem to handle moist tobaccos pretty well for me when it's humid out. I'm an outdoor smoker and it definitely gets humid in North Carolina too.
I definitely have a heat/humidity limit to when I'll smoke, if I have to smoke outside. Luckily, I smoke inside at home (Michigan, which has plenty of hot and humid days in the summer). I was just visiting friends in Florida, and I didn't bother to take any pipes. They don't smoke, so I would have been outside. 90+ for both temp. and humidity. At that point, it's not worth it for me.
Have you tried D&R blends yet? I can smoke pretty much any of their blends, right out of the jar/bag/tin in 90% humidity and they won’t even wet the sump in a Peterson system.

That's what I love about D&R, they're good to go right out the gate. Good smoke for a good price. It breaks my heart about picayune though. I'm savoring the last little bit I have.
