Public forum.... public questions... about pipe smoking.... an art of patience....questions about learning patience......from the impatient.....
This is a public forum, an art form in peace and relaxation and musing about life's daily issues.

My advise to all of the new posters, if you ask a question and get some upset that you are asking said question then dont take that persons advice, ever about pipe smoking. They obviously have yet to learn the art of smoking a pipe and talking to brothers. They are a cigar smoker fronting as a pipeman. Just move on to the next post.

Look on other sites that could have been written by some idiot who smokes pot or doesnt smoke at all
attempting to make a cool article, leading people down the wrong path...
I ***TRUST*** the guys here, therefore I post and ask questions here
Yes you have stated that many times. What stops you from looking for the info ON THIS SITE before posting? There are articles etc on the main website as well as the forums.

I can't find it now, but when I joined up here I did a lot of browsing of old threads and I remember reading a thread similar to this and Kevin made the comment that if a newbie asked a question and a member told that newbie to search for his answer that member would be banned.

While I admit that it can sometimes be boring when I see the same questions asked over and over, the fact is that without new threads, posts, and discussions, we would no longer have active forums. We would lose a valuable resource for encouraging new pipe smokers, sharing information and supporting the hobby.
Ask away.
Post away.
Talk amongst yourselves.
Words from Kevin...

I think I maybe partially responsible for this thread, so I will add my 2 cents. As a newbie pipe smoker, I am having a very frustrating time with starting out. Countless YouTube videos and reading forums upon forums before even thiought about posting. I settled here because I liked how embracing the senior members were. There was no condensending tone (at least til recently). It's reassuring just to hear an encouraging voice, even if the question has been asked ad infinitum. I say ask away. If you think is a dumb topic, move on.
My drill instructor once told me "there is no such thing as stupid questions.....just stupid people that ask them!". That makes me laugh, even to this day.

Sixmp if you don't like the thread or the question why don't you ignore instead of posting an essay on search methods. Perhaps some people enjoy the conversation of asking and are trying to make themselves known around here. What is the point of this forum if not that?
You say give a man a fish....well I don't think anyone asked you to smoke a pipe for them. Only tips on how to do it right.
Is it common for. Newbies to pop on and completely over analyze techniques and method and ask the same old questions. Yes. But is that a problem? I say no. Bring the new smokers. Bring the questions. Keep the hobby alive and kickin.

Yes, I agree.
It doesn't apply to what I was saying, just one of the funny lines I remembered from boot camp. I'm sure the jarheads will appreciate it.

I just made a discussion with suggestions on how to find info on this website as well as others. After all that is another reason for forums, to discuss things. There is more to this website than just the forum i was just trying to point that out.

They asked me to Google answers for them or find articles on this very website they could easily find themselves.
AS i have said in the original post nobody including myself has a problem with questions being asked. Just was saying there are other methods available to find information.

I don't want any information from people like GL Pease or Russ Ouellette; I want my info from people I TRUST!

It looks like another train has run off the rails...
I have my opinions on this but I figure less is more at this point in time.

The really sad part is that I detailed exactly what causes things like this and exactly how to diffuse the problems. Until everyone here is able to take that advice to heart, we will have threads like this and it will continue fracturing the PM community. I lead people every day so I see this type of thing regularly.
Last piece of advice on this subject. This is a pipe forum and unless I miss my guess, we all came here to talk about pipes instead of bickering. Take a day, smoke a bowl or 3 and realize that this isn't really that big a deal.
