I've slowly been building a Bill Taylor Ashton 7 Day set. This Old Church Zulu, made in 1993 (13 stamp) makes #6. The Old Church finish is my favorite and this one was a XX size, which is also my preference. It only weighs 33 grams. I cleaned the bowl and some darkening of the bowl top, then shined the stem. A little Halycon brightened up the bowl stain. The PO used a bite guard, so the stem was free of any marks. Now, she's ready to roll.
The button and tenon on this one are first rate, Bill was on his A game when he made this one.

Very mild Zulu shape, XX must be quite large in bowl capacity, great looking pipe, enjoy.

Congrats! I'm working on my set of Ashtons, too. Five to go, however. Like you, I prefer 2X (or smaller) -- and I'm picky about the stems. Some of the newer ones are pretty thick for my precious little lips.

That's a beauty of a bent billiard on top there, Al. Is it really stamped Pebble Grain? I've seen a few other odd color variations here and there, come to think of it.

Beautiful Zulu, Al. I have the same model of Zulu in the same finish. Congrats. I really think you need a classic pebble grain billiard in your collection.

@pitch - Yep, that one is stamped Pebble Grain, but has a Old Church finish. Perhaps one of Bill's creations after lunch?
@peck - I don't have one single straight billiard in collection, so that's not likely!
