On this most humble day of the liturgical calendar, let us get out our Pete’s and smoke something @ashdigger would. If you wish you to join me on this most inward of pilgrimages, I am going to take up his exemplar and smoke petes exclusively for the next 40 days and give up giving a fuck.

I hear ya. Listening to Christians has been excellent in developing the virtue of patience.

I am drawn to seasonal calendars, whatever their origins or contemporary uses. It would be deeply ignorant of me to discredit the pagan/indigenous (and Hebrew) rhythms the church’s calendar is built upon, as it would be to avoid acknowledging its assimilation of these l enduring wisdoms.
