As some of you know, I've been on a search for flavorful tobaccos with an aroma that my family will like enough to let me smoke indoors. So I've tried 13 blends so far based on recommendations from the group and my own research. I thought I'd share my results since others mentioned that they also wanted to accomplish the same thing.
Though none were "bad", most blends did not have a nice enough room note to please the family, except for 2. For room note alone, the best contenders were Boswell's Berry Cobbler http://www.boswellpipes.com and Bleecker Street from http://www.vtpipes.com
In terms of flavor, both are very good, but Bleecker Street, ranks way up there in my book, a very unique flavor and aroma.
But my favorite aromatic was by far Wilke 191, also from http://www.vtpipes.com described on Tobacco Reviews:

A tobacco for all seasons, the right aroma and the right taste make this our number one selling tobacco! Natural flavors from Vermont honey and vanilla beans are combined with Virginia's and matured Kentucky Burley to create this mild, slow burning cavendish blend.
The room note was good, but not loved by the family (but not hated either).
As for the others I tried, none had exceptional flavor and many were so wet and gummy, that they required frequent re-lightings. And I am not a fan of having to dry them out before using, so I will be avoiding those.
I decided not to single them out since I see no reason in bashing a tobacco that others may like (and most of these came recommended anyway).
All in all, even though I have to pay taxes on Pipeworks & Wilke blends, they have been by far the best of all the tobaccos I've tried so far and the prices are mostly in line with the others. Highly recommended.

Numbersix very well written.
Have you tried Lane Ltd. 1Q?

It is a very good/mild/tasty aromatic that evokes nothing but good responses from anyone who gets a whiff.

One of its greatest redeeming factors is that it makes for one very good "go-to" smoke.

And, it's inexpensive and comes in bulk.
I highly recommend it.

I think you'll find that many of the Membership will agree.

Thanks Lawrence - Lane 1Q was one of the blends I tried, but unfortunately the room note wasn't good enough for the family - however, I did like it.
One reason I didn't single out the blends that were not tops in my list was because some of them I only tried once (and this was after smoking other blends on the same day) and so I feel the need to go back to them for a real test, and Lane 1Q is definitely one I have to go back to as it was so highly recommended by the group here.
I have to say also, for my taste buds, the Wilke 191 and Bleecker St were so good that I couldn't help comparing everything else to those and most kept coming up short.
But I will report back as I continue to test the others. I have a feeling Lane 1Q will become one of my preferred blends.

Man, it was so good I had to have the wife make me some blackberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream twice the last time I was home(I travel extensively for work). The room note is amazing and the smell of the tobacco unsmoked is pure nirvana. It smells so good it can be used for potpourri. No kidding. I am primarily an English smoker and getting into Virginias, but I truly am in love with this stuff.

I'm a sucker for aros, I admit it.
One of the ones I enjoy a bit is the Davidoff Danish - it's not too exciting, sweet and a little nutty I guess, but it burns well and tastes good. Doesn't smell like a dog on fire, which is always nice.
It's a shame so many out there are black cavendish, cardboard, goo, and fruit flavoring. IT's not a recipe for success!

I, too, am not ashamed to admit I like aromatic tobaccos from time to time. Reiner's Professional is one I smoke fairly often. Another favorite is Dan Tobacco's DaVinci. Both high quality with a nice flavor and room note. Neither one is goopy. The Newminster Blackberry Brandy sounds good. I'll have to give that one a try.

@numbersix your 2 1oz samples are packaged, stamped, and ready for post. PM me when you get it. Your family will drool over the aroma. Sorry I cant send ya ice cream. You will want some. I swear, the baccy is fully sealed as well as the 6X9 envelope but it still permeates. Pipe dreams will truly to be conceived with Newminster Blackberry Brandy. It will take you away to that special place. Enjoy!
