As some of you know, I've been on a search for flavorful tobaccos with an aroma that my family will like enough to let me smoke indoors. So I've tried 13 blends so far based on recommendations from the group and my own research. I thought I'd share my results since others mentioned that they also wanted to accomplish the same thing.
Though none were "bad", most blends did not have a nice enough room note to please the family, except for 2. For room note alone, the best contenders were Boswell's Berry Cobbler http://www.boswellpipes.com and Bleecker Street from http://www.vtpipes.com
In terms of flavor, both are very good, but Bleecker Street, ranks way up there in my book, a very unique flavor and aroma.
But my favorite aromatic was by far Wilke 191, also from http://www.vtpipes.com described on Tobacco Reviews:
A tobacco for all seasons, the right aroma and the right taste make this our number one selling tobacco! Natural flavors from Vermont honey and vanilla beans are combined with Virginia's and matured Kentucky Burley to create this mild, slow burning cavendish blend.
The room note was good, but not loved by the family (but not hated either).
As for the others I tried, none had exceptional flavor and many were so wet and gummy, that they required frequent re-lightings. And I am not a fan of having to dry them out before using, so I will be avoiding those.
I decided not to single them out since I see no reason in bashing a tobacco that others may like (and most of these came recommended anyway).
All in all, even though I have to pay taxes on Pipeworks & Wilke blends, they have been by far the best of all the tobaccos I've tried so far and the prices are mostly in line with the others. Highly recommended.
